S.J. Edwards Inc., a Freeport-based financial services and employee benefits consulting firm, is sponsoring three free workshops for business owners on the Affordable Care Act and the New York State Health Benet Exchange.
The first breakfast event will be Oct. 22 from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Riverhead Holiday Inn, 1707 Old Country Rd. (Route 58) in Riverhead. The second will be Oct. 29 at the Lynbrook Holiday Inn Express, 1 Sunrise Hwy. in Lynbrook. The last will be Nov. 5 at the Plainview Holiday Inn, 215 Sunnyside Blvd. in Plainview.
Several topics will be addressed regarding the enrollment period of Nov. 15 to Feb. 15, 2015. Experts will talk about where to find affordable health insurance for employees, and the rights and responsibilities of employers. They will also address whether the Affordable Care Act can reduce business health insurance costs, discuss the penalties for not having health insurance, and explain how to enroll in the state exchange.
